Good day all,

Need anyone to swab the decks or maybe sheet in the jib/main? I'd like to do some sailing the summer and I'm interested in helping out as crew. I've completed my CYA basic and intermediate cruising and I've had plenty of leisure sailing experience. Though I might be a little rusty from a few years of being away from the dock.

I'm a 38 year old male, living in Manuels. Let me know if I can help. Please contact me at info@obrienconsulting.ca.

We will be stopping in St. John's in May of this year in the yacht "Bermuda Robin" on our way to Europe. As you will recall, Ted Hood won the Newport - Bermuda Race in the "Robin" in 1968 and thus renamed her. Iceland will be our next stop. Do you have facilitities that we may be permitted to use? Thank you, kindly.

This is a thank you note to John Walsh, Jim Eastman, Peter Lawrie and Steve and all those who helped my dad Jack Nye and Julian tie-up after his 18th transatlantic crossing. This was (the family hopes) Jack's last crossing. Actually a double crossing this year, he started from Halifax in June, sailed to England then on to Ireland and now back to Long Pond Newfoundland. Thanks again for all the friendly help.

Looking through the web site - things have change somewhat since I was there a few years ago - even my brother - Mike Shawyer - looks somewhat different - doubt I would recognise him - hope to re-visit in the next year or so!!

I'm recently back in the province. I have done some CYA training (level 1, level 2) while away and I was hoping to help a crew sail this summer (I don't have much experience racing). Please contact if you are interested: info@obrienconsulting.ca

Reply to Anthony Trimboli in NYC:  You're right. Anthony.  Ireland is to the east of us here in Newfoundland - sort of East-Northeast actually.  We're stuck out into the northern Atlantic Ocean here at about 47 degrees Latitude.  Ireland is about 52 to 54 degrees Latitude so it's a bit north of our location and as we like to say "across the pond" meaning across the Atlantic Ocean!

Cheers, Leo

I love the nice photos you have on your site here for your marina and yacht club. They are like so nice to look at and such nice views of the bays and all of that. I think they are nice photos. Question: Ireland is to your east right out there??

Hi, looking to help crew a sailboat for a short trip this August 2011 in Newfoundland.  We have sailed for 8 years a 21ft single-mast sailboat.

I am the Commodore of the Shearwater Yacht Club and was in St. John's on business. I was hoping to swing by for a drink and visit, but I see your dining room is closed for the Winter. I didn't see bar hours posted. Maybe next time.

Greetings fellow members,

Congratulations Ken on a super job with the website.  This is my first attempt to post a comment in the Guest Book and I hope other members and visitors will follow suit.  I think this can be a valuable means to provide continuous feedback on Club operations and the overall image we project.

Thanks and best wishes,
Leo
